After Chapter 2 of the beginner's tutor, if your band has sets of pipes to loan, consider lending them pipes and inviting them to practice to hold the pipes, learn the timing of a strike in, and march with all reeds corked, just so they get used to the tunes, tempos, and starts / stops / drill.
This will also help motivate them to play / get kilted.
Help them start the Transitioning to the Bagpipes course in tandem with their beginner course.
